.As some of you know, our Hazelnut Cakelet® made the news lately when she unintentionally got in the middle of some political shenanigans on the weekend.
On Sunday, the handsome reporters known asRobert Benzie and Rob Ferguson wrote a story for The Star called "Sousa crowned queen-maker at Ontario Liberal leadership convention"and casually mentioned our cakelet in the article. Since then, some people on Twitter (and you know who you are) have suggested that Hazelnut Cakelet is responsible for the outcome of the vote and now Hazelnut Cakelet is feeling a little inadequate.
Alternating layers of chocolate and hazelnut sponge cake with hazelnut buttercream in between and then drenched with dark chocolate ganache - what else could you want from a cake, people? Turn away from the mirror, Hazelnut Cakelet, you're delicious just the way you are! .

The West Queen West BIA has organized an event called Queen of Hearts for Saturday February 9th.
Visit select merchants along Queen Street West (between Bathurst and Gladstone) to pickup a passport and to collect passport stamps along the way to be eligible for a month of deals.
Dufflet Downtown at 787 Queen St. W. will giveaway a mini gourmet cookie on Feb. 9th to all passport holders and will stamp passports. Our "deal for the month" offer will be 2 for 1 cake slices (subject to in-store availability) for the rest of February to Queen of Hearts passport holders (this location only).

Lunch Money Days is a city-wide campaign that asks Torontonians to run fundraisers in support of Second Harvest and donating the equivalent of your lunch money.
From their site: "Every $10 raised allows Second Harvest to rescue and deliver enough food to provide 20 healthy meals for those in need, so lettuce give! This year, Lunch Money Days will be celebrated the week of February 25, 2013."
For a 2nd year, Dufflet Pastries will donate $1.00 from every 4” Cowboy Cookie sold (price $1.80 each) for the entire month of February at all 3 Dufflet locations.
What's in a Cowboy Cookie? Chunks of dark chocolate and marshmallows, raisins, coconut, peanuts and oats.
